Hyderabad must be made a UT: Danam Nagender

Hyderabad : Greater Hyderabad City Congress president Danam Nagender has said that Hyderabad city should be made a Union Territory if a separate Telangana state is created. At a press conference here, he said Hyderabad was a cosmopolitan city and people from all over the country were living there for a long time and therefor the city was no longer considered to be a part of the Telangana region. “Once upon a time, Hyderabad was an independent region and later it became part of Andhra Pradesh.

If a separate Telangana state is formed, I will raise the demand for a Union Territory status to Hyderabad,” he said. Nagender alleged that opposition parties were conspiring to whip up regional jingoism by misinterpreting Chief Minister’s remarks on Telangana.
